Body Image - 2009

This is a little story told in two video installations about how two girls perceive their body.

Advertisements depict how a perfect body should be, the girls shadows are a metaphor of how we are deceived into thinking we are imperfect.

We judge ourselves based upon the shadow we cast, instead of actually looking at what we really are.

The same happens when we look in the mirror.

All we see are imperfections instead of our own beauty. This way, getting ready for a night out, becomes a mental trial of frustration and doubt. No matter what the girls try on, they will never be satisfied, because they don’t believe they are ‘perfect’.

(If only it was possible to just be happy with yourself...?)
